How to cope ( and beat! ) seasonal depression

Its that time of the year again. The days get shorter, nights get longer, sun leaves us at an ungodly hour of FIVE PM?? ( as if my day is over at five.. lol )

We all know this feeling all too well and for many of us this brings us sadness, no really, seasonal depression aka SADD affects many people all around the world and it sucks.

However, I am here to share some tips I've learned over the years that has helped me cope with seasonal depression.

TIP #1

STAY BUSY

Staying busy has proven to help keep your mind productive. Too often we will sit and gloom on the couch and just watch Netflix because well its easy and I'm sad duh! However, giving yourself a project or an activity to do that will keep you productive will help raise your happy hormones.

TIP #2

GET UP AND GET ACTIVE

If you take nothing away from this post you must take this tip at least.

30 minutes a day is all you need! being active and working out releases endorphins which makes you happy. Studies show people who workout/ doing some type of active movement are relatively more productive and happy overall.

Tip #3

WATCH WHAT YOU ARE CONSUMING

What you eat directly affects how you feel! Eating junk food all day will make you feel just as bad as all the sugar in it, you will feel sluggish and just want to lay in bed all day which of course further triggers seasonal depression.

Eat better you'll feel better, period.

Tip #4

SET A ROUTINE

Having a solid morning and night routine , you can check out my 2020 morning routine here , has proven to help you not only in life but within your mental health. By knowing what you want and how you want your day to go will then make your life run more smooth and with intention rather than chaos.

Cluttered life = cluttered mind which then makes you want to just lay and do nothing.

These tips have saved me this winter season and I hope you all are able to take away from this as well!
